i loved

"this gown"

from marchesa's s/s '12 collection.

i'm looking for a gown for an event in this (late)summer. it's quite early i know, but i looove to shop for gowns. this time when i like something it always turns out to be marchesa. but i can't really decide between an elegant, simple gown or a trash couture one.

4/8/12

i want

"a perfect herb garden"

not a big one of course. just a few pots and some herbs. something that you can create at home, adore it and enthusiastically use in cooking. i have some basil growing, but it is really hard to be patient.

i miss

"travelling"

few moments ago, in the office, i missed the day i had in prague. the beautiful garden near the castle, sitting on the grass and sipping the wine we shared.

i miss getting a backpack and just travelling across cities and countries. a few days off to a nice city would be lovely too.

3/26/12

i'm going to

"cooking classes"

on saturdays. it is mostly chinese, but there will be thai and japanese as well. also a separate class for only sushi. it is so much fun and also really delicious. yes, we eat all we cook!

first week was just knife skills.

 the delicious wonton soup!
sweet sour chicken
next week is just dumplings, wontons and rolls. yum!

2/8/12

i love

"cooking and baking"

but i don't really like eating alone. last week i was all alone at home, working.  when i'm alone i don't really cook a lot and i do eat less. still, i try. i even tried to make the breakfast fun. yet, how fun can a french toast be.

2/6/12

i missed

"the spring"

when we would go to the lake and get lazy on the grass, under the shadow of the trees.

2/2/12

i love

"bright mornings"

and so does merlin.

1/2/12

happy new year to all!

the party was great!
i hope everyone enjoyed it like i did.

12/17/11

i love

"my 2 new kittens"

it has been 3 weeks today. these are the most adorable, cutest kittens i've seen. when i got them they were 1 month old. they are still tiny but growing bigger everyday. Merlin(formerly Marilyn but had to (sort of) change the name after the vet told me it was a male also) and Pierre.

12/14/11

i want

"the new year's eve to come"

not just for the thousands of stuff on my to do list for next week, but also for the party i've been planning for. this week was full of going back and forth between blogs, facebook and (i'm sorry to admit) 9gag, when instead i should have been going back and forth between accounting, investment and management stuff. also i tried out the recipes of fingerfood that i plan to put on buffet on my new year's eve cocktail party. so, eating has a new cover: tasting. tasting brownies, tasting gravlax, tasting this and that. i don't know how i'll get into the little black dress i got for the party!

11/15/11

i have seen

"tosca"

tonight. and i'm back home just now. it was so great that i didn't want it to end. loved it!

9/10/11

i missed

"mad men"

i really can't wait for the new season to start.

7/28/11

i missed

"cooking"

now that i got the internship that i wanted, i can whine about something else.
i wake up early and come home not so late but tired. and there is no one home, meaning that no one to cook for.
last summer i went to an eco-village for a week. yes: no electricity, no signal, no nothing. but there was a cute open kitchen with not so many ingredients available. i now remember and realize that even though it's just pasta, i really liked cooking in there.

7/26/11

R.I.P.

"amy winehouse"

"we only said goodbye with words
i died a hundred times."

7/13/11

i love

"summer"

espacially if i'm having a quiet vacation somewhere near the sea. with really cold sangria, white wine, limoncello or whatever. and not carrying around my canon but using instagram instead. not the best idea, still quite practical.

6/14/11

i find

"old photos"

from vintage and antique shops. i don't know who the people are but, actually not knowing the story makes it more exciting. i can just make them up.
the photos are small. like 5*10 cm or so. and they are quite old.
this photo was the first one that i bought. it initiated my collection in a way. i really like it.
about this one, i liked the genuine attitude and outlook of these young men.
this seems like the man kissed her right before the photographer pressed the button. maybe it was the first time he kissed her. who knows.
this photo seems like a  movie scene. also the light and the sharpness of the details are quite nice.

5/24/11

i love

"Florence"

i went there for the first time 2 years ago, while i was travelling in europe with train. and i loved it!
this summer i may go to florence again. i hope i will.

i made

"a little herb garden"

and i wrote about it. and i'm putting this to just show how they grew up. i feel like they are my children or something. i can't even eat them!

3/28/11

i made

"a little herb garden"

with the seeds that i bought last month. it took a little while for them to shoot, but now they look so cute! the chives and the thyme did not come out though. but i re-seeded the thyme. also i bought some arugula seeds yesterday and replaced it with the chives.

 awesome parsley!
cool basil.
poor sage...

3/16/11

i went

"over to my friends"

i like inviting over my friends and i love seeing them enjoy the food that i cook. but, i also enjoy being invited over to a dinner.
last week i went to a friends' house for dinner.
they told me to buy some bread and wine on the way, and i said ok. later on, i realized that there was plenty of time to "make" some bread instead.
i had some rye flour and some regular flour.
my rye flour on hand was enough to make 4 small ones. and i made 4 more from the white, just in case.
making bread is pretty easy actually, contrary to how it is perceived by many people.
it is an "ancient" recipe, literally. flour, water, yeast and salt. that is all. it only takes some time. waiting for the dough to rise may be a problem if you have nothing to do meanwhile.
when the breads and i were ready to go; i jumped into my car and got some red & white wine on the way. when i arrived at their house, the table was looking great and the smell of the food was appetizing. even if i wasn't starving, i wouldn't eat less!
i don't always like to drink while having the dinner, so when we left the table to continue our chat on the sofas at the opposite side of the kitchen (yes they have a quite large one) i had a glass of white wine (then, continued on of course) and joined the others.
the night altogether was really nice.
food, wine, friends. what could you want more?..
except the next day's hangover to go away.
